Join us for a one-night, two-day trip to Horicon Marsh in Horicon, WI. Participants will paddle the 6.5-mile canoe trail in the State Wildlife Area of Horicon Marsh. We will explore the multiple trails and visitor centers of the marsh. All meals will be provided, including a campfire dinner and dessert.
About the park: Horicon Marsh is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. The marsh is home to over 305 species of birds and abundant flocks of migrant Canada Geese, and offers the opportunity to see many different mammals, reptiles, plants and insects. Horicon Marsh is protected by the Department of Natural Resources and the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service for its incredible diversity.
Transportation is available through Nahant Marsh for an additional $30. Total cost will be $160 to ride with Nahant, spots are limited or $130 if you’re driving yourself. Cost covers food, gas, canoes and camping fees.
A pre-trip meeting will be held on September 30th at 2:00 pm at Nahant Marsh Education Center. Participants will meet at Nahant Marsh on October 20th at 12:30 pm to travel to Marsh Haven Nature Center. Friday evening and Saturday will be spent exploring the marsh; we will return to Nahant Marsh around 8:00 pm Saturday evening.
