Description

Help scientists track monarchs by tagging them as they migrate to Mexico. This is an open house event but monarch tagging will take place on a reservation basis. Participants can reserve an hour time slot and can tag their butterfly anytime during that slot. Families will enjoy educational activities, crafts, milkweed giveaways, and more. The monarchs we will be tagging have been collected from eggs and carefully cared for by experienced monarch enthusiasts in our community. Participants can also search for and catch migrating monarchs along the trails.

New this year, we will have educational presentations on landscaping with native plants; milkweed; and monarch migration and what a local group is doing to help aid in monarch conservation. On the half hour, come enjoy storytime from the Davenport Public Library.

If you get hungry during the event, check out our snack and bake sale. Goodwill donations for these items will benefit the Friends of Nahant Marsh.

A special thank you to the Monarch Rescue Team of the QC, Wild One's Quad City Chapter, the Waste Commission of Scott County, and many dedicated volunteers!
