Secretive marsh birds are exactly what their name implies – “secretive”. They inhabit marshes consisting of dense emergent vegetation, skulking about searching for food, building nests, and staying largely unseen by people. As a result of this hidden lifestyle, little was known about these unique birds until recently. Join Tyler Harms, Wildlife Biologist with the Iowa DNR and Executive Director of Iowa Young Birders, as he walks you through nearly 10 years of research unveiling the secrets of Iowa’s marsh birds, including their habitat preferences and interspecies relationships.
A continental breakfast will be served. Please bring a travel coffee mug if you have one.
