Description

Summer Bumble Bee Research

This program will focus on research conducted by interns with Nahant Marsh and the US fish and Wildlife Service. The research consisted of bumble bee surveys across multiple sites in the Quad Cities. They tallied, photographed, and identified every bumblebee they could find along our transect and what flower the species was on. The overall goal of this research was to find and tally an the endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee (as well as document the various species of bumble bees seen throughout the Quad Cities). The Rusty Patched Bumble Bee is endemic to North America and has been endangered since 2017, but luckily it has recently been spotted in the Quad Cities!  A continental breakfast will be served. Please bring a travel coffee mug if you have one.
