Growing Milkweed the Easy Way
Many people struggle to grow milkweed. It needs a period of cold before it will germinate and the seeds need light. Gina Haddock, a lifelong "average" gardener will show a few methods and one that is easy and effective. She will bring two types of milkweed seeds to plant and seedlings to share. She will touch on why milkweed is important and is, in her view, an act of civil disobedience. Bring a small (and deep) empty pot or two, if you have extras.
Instructor: Regina (Gina) Haddock is a lifelong Quad Citizen with a varied background in education, community organizing and nonprofit management. She has worked for Scott County Extension, Black Hawk College, Friendly House, and in late 2019 stepped down as Executive Director of Dress for Success Quad Cities having founded the organization in 2010. Currently, she teaches psychology part-time at St. Ambrose University and helped launch the new local chapter of the Wild Ones, an organization dedicated to promoting native plants and sustainable landscapes in our yards and public spaces.
A continental breakfast will be served. Please bring a travel coffee mug if you have one.
